Jacqueline Yeo, Founder & Curriculum Writer



Jacqueline Yeo is a recognised educator of English with a wealth of teaching experience in Singapore. Prior to founding Thought and Words, Jacqueline was Head of Department for English Language at Nanyang Primary School.

Jacqueline is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the National University of Singapore majoring in English Language, Literature and English in Applied Discourse. She obtained the Specialist Certificate in Language Curriculum & Materials Development in 2003 through the SEAMEO Scholarship Programme. In 2010, she obtained the degree of Masters of Arts in Primary Education with Distinction (UK). She also received several national awards including: The National Day Award (Commendation Medal) in 2000, The National Day Honours 2012 and the coveted Inspiring Teacher of English Award 2012. Jacqueline is also trained to teach high ability pupils.


As a school teacher, Jacqueline constantly explored new approaches to teaching and she conducted professional sharing at school conferences and national seminars. In 2010, she presented at the inaugural Holistic Assessment Seminar attended by teachers and principals and was invited to speak at the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) ExCEL Fest 2013 attended by the public.

As HoD, Jacqueline was highly regarded for her command and mastery of the language and her ability to write materials to meet the demands of the new EL PSLE paper. She guided her team of teachers on using effective strategies in the teaching of writing as well as techniques to help pupils excel in cloze passages, comprehension and the oral components. Jacqueline enjoys writing materials and has spent many years of her career developing an array of materials to teach pupils how to write effectively and improve learning outcomes.
