Testimonials
I would like to express my thanks to Teacher Jacqueline for coaching my daughter, Estelle, who only joined Thoughts and Words in Term 4 of Primary 5. Estelle enjoys her lessons as Teacher Jacqueline would make lessons interesting. Teacher Jacqueline would make it a point to call on every student to answer and she is very encouraging towards her students. Estelle has shown improvement in her writing skills in the short span of a few months and has become a more confident writer. She now enjoys writing and she decided to take part in the SOTA Creative Writing Composition in February 2020. We were pleasantly surprised when she emerged 1 of the 50 shortlisted finalists out of the 1500 or more entries. Thanks, Teacher Jacqueline, for inspiring the love of writing to Estelle and for your dedication and patience in coaching her.

I have two sons who both go to Thoughts and Words and cannot recommend this centre highly enough.
My older son has just completed his PSLE and I have to mention that navigating the PSLE year and the English exam was an extremely challenging experience for me a as parent! I can only empathize with what Zachary had to go through! I am pleased that Teacher Jacqueline took the time to look through his prelim paper, provided me with individualized feedback on his performance, and also reassuring me about how he did for the exam. She takes a personal and vested interest in every child that attends her classes. Zachary enjoyed her classes because she has brought the same style of language teaching from his school right to her classes at Thought and Words.
My younger son has also enjoyed his classes with Teacher Geraldine and since attending her classes, his interest in English is clearly seen whenever I interact with him. Because she focuses on his vocabulary, he now demonstrates more interest in reading newspaper articles! Evan enjoys going to her classes and looks forward to the classroom interactions with Teacher Geraldine and to learning more words. Teacher Geraldine has been very helpful as she takes an active interest in getting to know the children on an individual level.
We really enjoy sending the boys there as the centre’s main focus is on igniting their passion for the English language rather than focusing purely on the hoops that one has to jump through just to score well on their exams.
-- Seow Yu Jin, Father of Zachary and Evan, Nanyang Primary (Primary 3 & Primary 6)
Dear Teacher Jacqueline,
Thank you for walking the PSLE journey with Thaddeus. With your strategies and guidance, Thaddeus has made significant improvement in his writing. It is evident that he has a better grasp in developing his story and has also amassed a wider range of appropriate vocabulary for his stories. Apart from the strategies, your patience and constant encouragement have also helped him to gain confidence. We are thankful that you have helped him achieve an A* and most importantly, imparted a lifelong skill for good writing.
-- Mr and Mrs Sim, Parents of Thaddeus Sim, Ngee Ann Primary (Primary 6)
I want to thank Teacher Jacqueline and Teacher Geraldine for their patience and commitment in helping my son complete the final lap before his PSLE. I find the course content very well-organized and comprehensive. Teacher Jacqueline is very knowledgeable and she was able to guide my son especially in the area of situational writing and composition. He was always eager to share what he learnt when I picked him up from lessons. Most importantly, he enjoyed each lesson thoroughly. The oral preparation at Thought and Words gave him a huge leap in confidence and I could see he was at ease on the actual PSLE oral day. It was my colleague who recommended me to send my son to Thought and Words and I’ll be doing the same too!
-- Jean Tan, Parent of Lim Yee Zhi, Red Swastika School (Primary 6)
The lessons are very interesting, inclusive and fun. I like the way you can stay back after class to clarify your doubts with Teacher Jacqueline. The stories that Teacher Jacqueline tell during composition lessons are very interesting and humorous. You can also come to class early to clarify your doubts. Teacher Jacqueline always encourages us to persevere and not give up.

The teachers at Thought and Words are very experienced and were able to immediately identify Ted’s weakness during the trial lesson. Under the guidance of Teacher Geraldine, Ted is now a confident writer. His grammar has improved significantly and he writes good quality content. I am amazed at the tremendous improvement in his writing at the end of one term. Ted really enjoys the lessons as they are conducted in a fun and engaging yet structured manner. I highly recommend the Enrichment Programme to P2 students. It’s very beneficial to start young!
-- Josephine Chan, Mother of Ted Ng, Ngee Ann Primary (Primary 2)
My son came to Thought and Words with the desire of improving his English. Throughout his learning journey for slightly over a year, he had thoroughly enjoyed the lessons with Teacher Jacqueline. Lessons were fun and enriching. There was improvement in his English and it was indeed a boost to his interest in learning. Many thanks to Teacher Jacqueline and Teacher Geraldine for their patient teaching, guidance, and constructive feedback given readily.
-- Christopher Kong, Parent of Andric Kong, Maris Stella (Primary 6)
Since attending Thought and Words, Ethan has improved in his writing. He has benefitted from the strategies taught and is able to apply them in his work. Teacher Geraldine is highly dedicated and is able to leverage on his strengths, as well as supporting him in overcoming the challenges he faces in learning the language. Thank you Thought and Words for making learning so enjoyable for my son.
-- Yvonne, Mother of Ethan Lee, St Stephen’s Primary (Primary 2)
Thank you, Teacher Jacqueline for preparing Ansel for the PSLE. It has been a difficult journey. He was not the easiest of student to teach, I believe. I am glad that he scored an A for English. I would highly recommend Thought and Words to others whose kids are taking the PSLE.
-- Mr Goh Wah Kiat, Parent of Ansel Goh, Pei Hwa Presbyterian (Primary 6)
Both my children really enjoy and look forward to the enrichment lessons at Thought at Words. The programme has strengthened their vocabulary and the writing skills and techniques they acquired have helped them do well in their examinations. This year, for her P4 SA1 exam, Samantha scored the highest band for her composition and full marks for her Comprehension (open-ended). My P3 son, Yi Jun, has also performed well consistently. Thank you, Teacher Geraldine for your efforts in helping my kids excel in their English!
-- Caddie Gao, Mother of Yi Jun (Primary 3) and Samantha (Primary 4), Temasek Primary School
My son has always obtained scores ranging from high seventies to low eighties for English, despite my best efforts. Thankfully, we found Thought and Words and in a single year, he managed to improve remarkably, due to the unique teaching program of Thought and Words and the dedication of Teacher Jacqueline and Teacher Geraldine. It is nothing short of a miracle to see the vast improvement in his written and spoken English. Thank you for helping him get his A star for English in PSLE.
-- Angela Tan, Mother of Linus Lo, Catholic High School (Primary 6)
My daughter is an enthusiastic reader and active thinker. Teacher Jacqueline praised her for her love for learning and guided her to express her ideas using powerful words. Although she only started the PSLE revision programme with Thought and Words in June, she made a huge improvement in the subject, regained her confidence and scored an A star in English for her PSLE! She enjoyed the lessons at Thought and Words so much that she is keen to continue her learning here when she goes to the secondary school.
-- Lynne Xu, Mother of Rosemary, Nanyang Primary (Primary 6)
Rajev thoroughly enjoys his classes at Thought and Words. He actually looks forward to his lessons even after a long day at school. Under Teacher Geraldine’s guidance, his writing ability improved in about two weeks, and the results are consistent thereafter. I believe the Centre has an effective strategy, good materials as well as dedicated teachers who are able to motivate the students.
-- Yin Luen, Mother of Rajev, ACS Primary (Primary 4)
Jaden started his lessons at Thought and Words at the start of the first term in P4. He enjoyed the lessons and always wanted to be early for class. After a few months, he has gained more confidence in composition writing and has shown great improvement in his work. I would like to thank Teacher Geraldine for her patience and dedication in guiding Jaden.
-- Annie, Mother of Jaden Lim, Tao Nan School (Primary 4)
Thought and Words’ curriculum is challenging and stretches the students’ abilities. Even though my son found the lessons a bit difficult at times, he never felt any pressure. He received encouragement for his efforts and the improvements he made along the way. Teacher Jacqueline’s care and affirmation have enthused my son to aspire to do better and work harder - I found my son going through the notes/work the day after the class!
After just a few months, my son told me he noticed his writing skills improved as he wrote his English composition at school. Gradually his marks jumped from 25/40 to 28/40 and then 32/40. Recently, he even taught me the techniques he learnt to tackle Comprehension and Cloze. He became more confident in an area that is deemed most difficult for him for PSLE English Paper 1!
I would like to thank Teacher Jacqueline for instilling confidence in my son and I unreservedly recommend Thought and Words to any parent who wants to nurture an eager learner for the English Language.
-- Helen Lau, Parent of Emmanuel Tan, St Stephen’s School (Primary 6)
“I would like to say a big thank you to Thought and Words for re-igniting Allyson’s interest in the English Language. Although she only attended classes for a short 2.5 months before the PSLE, I was amazed at the huge improvement she made in her writing and her comprehension techniques. Allyson thoroughly enjoyed the engaging classes taught by Teacher Jacqueline and eagerly looked forward to the lessons every week.”

"Mrs Jacqueline Tan was my Primary 6 English teacher of my Nanyang Primary journey. She was and still is, one of the best teachers that have taught me during my primary school life. I definitely enjoyed my lessons with her. Without Mrs Tan, I would not have obtained a good grade for my PSLE English examination and got into a good school. Thank you for all your help, Mrs Tan!"
-- Jeanette Seah, Nanyang Girls' High School
"I was taught English by Mrs Jacqueline Tan in Primary 6. As my friends and I were sitting for the PSLE, we were all quite anxious to do well.
Mrs Tan injected humour into the lessons and that made learning the language fun and easy for us. Every lesson was packed with useful tips and presented in an interesting way. That motivated us to continue learning!
Mrs Tan also taught us writing skills. She set high expectations and pushed us to excel in writing. She would show us examples of good writing, tell us areas which we could improve in, and help us learn from our mistakes. Focus was given to strengthening our vocabulary and it has helped me greatly in Secondary School.
I am really thankful to have Mrs Tan as my English teacher in my most important year in Primary School. She was really a wonderful teacher, and everyone who had her as a teacher was really fortunate to have that opportunity!"
